BIO

Dr Codabaccus has over 25 years’ experience in aquaculture practices in general. Over the years, Dr Codabaccus worked with various species of finfish and invertebrates both in tropical and temperate environments. The research area of Dr Codabaccus is focused on the nutritional aspects of aquatic species, particularly aiming at growing aquatic species sustainably and efficiently. Thus, Dr Codabaccus share a strong interest researching sustainable ingredients with primary aim to reduce/replace the use of marine meals and oils in formulated aquafeeds. For the past several years, as a nutritionist in the ARC lobster hub at IMAS, the contribution of Dr Codabaccus has led to a world first larval feed for closing the larval cycle for spiny lobsters. Recently, within the same organization, Dr Codabaccus has contributed to significant progress with the commercial development of sustainable feeds to grow juvenile spiny lobsters. Researching the nutrition of cultured aquatic species is an ever-growing science and the knowledge acquired is key to assist with tackling world food crisis. “The feed of today is not the feed of tomorrow” is a catch-phrase often employed by Dr Codabaccus highlighting that formulated feeds designed to grow aquatic species is an evolving process and largely driven by global situations and needs.
