Teaching expertise
Dr Philpott teaches a variety of units across classical and contemporary music streams, including Music and Place; Music and Politics; Music, Mind and Body; and Classical Music Theory. She also supervises Honours, Masters by Research and PhD students in music and co-supervises HDR students in psychology and Antarctic studies. She has received teaching awards from the University of Tasmania for her undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including a Vice-Chancellor's Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning in 2014.

Research Supervision
Dr Philpott has supervised and currently supervises theses and exegeses at the Honours, Masters and PhD levels on a broad range of topics within the fields of musicology and Antarctic studies. She also regularly examines HDR theses.

In line with her current projects, she welcomes expressions of interest from prospective HDR candidates with interests in intersections between music, place and environment, particularly in relation to the polar regions, and in representations of Antarctica in cultural production more broadly.
